Serendipity ~ a natural gift for making useful discoveries by accident
aka... "This Lady's Home Journal"
When we purchased our 105 year-old house we thought a thorough cosmetic overhaul was all it needed. We have since learned that houses built in 1900 need a little more TLC than that.
It has been our experience that most of our projects are delightful accidents, thus the arrival at naming this site. We're not restoring, but face-lifting. With a poorly-executed country theme prevalent throughout, we've begun with the largest project, the kitchen. Striving for an Olde World style, we're making progress... albeit a snails pace. It is our hope that you enjoy watching our progress as it unfolds.

Ceramic tile floor....installed! Well, most of it anyway. There are a few pieces around the corners that need to be mortared and grouted. But the bulk of our 15'x15' kitchen floor is done...and it looks FAB! Brian, of course, did most of the work. Nonetheless, it was a back-breaking, leg-crunching, headache-inducing, hot and sticky job! Worth every moment...take a look!

Time for a trip to the chiropracter! All-in-all I'd say it was absolutely worth the effort! I'd go as far as to say I'd do it again, but on a much smaller scale...say...the bathroom. It took the entire week of Brian's vacation! Although I would have prefered to get more done during the course of the week, we didn't realize just how much time this floor would need. I am NOT disappointed, however, as I just love the results. It'll look even better when I get it all cleaned up and the kitchen's contents back to where they belong! In the meantime, I have to get caught up on other housework!
