Serendipity ~ a natural gift for making useful discoveries by accident
aka... "This Lady's Home Journal"
When we purchased our 105 year-old house we thought a thorough cosmetic overhaul was all it needed. We have since learned that houses built in 1900 need a little more TLC than that.
It has been our experience that most of our projects are delightful accidents, thus the arrival at naming this site. We're not restoring, but face-lifting. With a poorly-executed country theme prevalent throughout, we've begun with the largest project, the kitchen. Striving for an Olde World style, we're making progress... albeit a snails pace. It is our hope that you enjoy watching our progress as it unfolds.

Today I get to do one of my favorite things....tweak!
Humidity being 80%+ these last few weeks, the newly painted livingroom has slowly and painfully been trying to dry. Yesterday was our fantastic break from all of that...absolutely gorgeous day! So today, I get to rummage through boxes which haven't seen the light of day for several months, pick out a few of my favorite pictures, and attack the livingroom! I also need to get out the paintbrush again and touch up a few spots, as well as slap yet another coat on that stinkin' hutch! Ugh! That dumb thing.
The heat and humidity are supposed to be back today, but I've already closed up the house in hopes of keeping the cool night air lingering inside as long as possible. If I catch it at just the right time, the house usually stays cool 'til about 5:00pm. After that, it's tough to tell which is warmer...inside or out!
Here's to a productive day!
